Seattle Seahawks: Perhaps Most Dangerous Team in NFC

@nategrayzone

In addition to their phenomenal 2012 season, the 2013 Seattle Seahawks have gotten my attention through three weeks of NFL football. They can potentially be the most dangerous team in the NFC. Why? Here is one thing I find impressive about the Seahawks this season:

As of Friday 9/27/14 going into week 4, they have allowed the fewest points not only in the NFC, but the entire NFL at 27 total points allowed. That is technically 3 field goals per game or one touchdown, point after, and a safety.

Breakdown:

Seattle allowed 7 points in week 1 versus the Carolina Panthers, and only 3 (week 2) points from division opponent and returning NFC champs, San Francisco 49ers. In week 3 Seattle stepped their game up a notch by not only allowing 17 points from the Jacksonville Jaguars, but they also registered 45 total points to the scoreboard. Their total points for the season to date is 86.

According to NFC standings they are behind Chicago (95 PF) and Green Bay (96 PF), but are playing defensively better than both teams. Chicago has allowed 74 points, while Green Bay's PA is 88.
The Seahawks are a young fresh team that showed their hunger when they fell to the Atlanta Falcons, two points shy of advancing to the conference championship in 2012. They were led by rookie quarterback, Russell Wilson, who outlasted another rookie quarterback and MVP, RG3 in the playoffs. Wilson has the right attitude on and off the field. It shows in his work ethic and media appearances. He will only get better. Keep up the great work, Russell!

Seattle has an aggressive defense that is powered with a rising cornerback, Richard Sherman who made media headlines for blasting Tom Brady and the Patriots last season, referring to the Pats as "The Brady Bunch" in his comments.

Pete Carrol's Seahawks are also 1 of the 7 undefeated teams entering week 4. New Orleans Saints are right behind the Seahawks as NO is 3-0 as well and have only allowed 38 points while scoring 70. They will meet each other for Monday Night football, but not until December 2nd, week 13. Each team may be a different story by then, but meanwhile, Seattle travels to Reliant Stadium to face the Houston Texans (2-1) in week 4.

Will the Seahawks win streak continue? Expect this one to be a tough bout. The Texans are coming off a 30-9 loss to the Super Bowl champ Ravens. Houston however is capable of defeating the Seahawks. Can the Seahawk defense compress the Texans offensive capabilities? It is probable this can be their first loss. This will be a statement game for Seattle.
